Hani Ahmed Zewail
About

Zewail's interdisciplinary scholarship has tended to focus on the intersections of cosmology, music, and philosophy with an emphasis on the nature of time.
He began his interdisciplinary explorations in cosmology at the age of 15 years old/ 18 years old --interning as well as working at CALTECH. Both at the level of chemistry, looking for life on Saturn's moon Titan, as well as astrophysics, attempting to find an 'additional' sun in our solar system.
Zewail began branching out at the University of California, Berkeley where he received his degree in Interdisciplinary studies -- fusing together, music, mathematical-physics, and philosophy, which culminated in a thesis on Fractals or 1/f noise in musical systems.
Then, Zewail continued his studies by receiving his Master's at the University of California, Santa Barbara: where his research focused on music & Islamic philosophy, specifically in the 9th century.
Zewail's current research project is titled Aesthetics and Poetics of Time: Sacred and Scientific Cosmologies in Mediaeval and Contemporary Musical Thought. It investigates fundamental metaphysical claims about the nature of reality (ontology), such as questions of substance-relation, time as real/unreal its nature as dynamic or static, through this interdisciplinary lens of philosophy, music, and science.
Zewail sees this as culmination of previous research strands.
Publications
Zewail has signed an upcoming publication/ book deal with Jenny Stanford Publishing, under the working title: Sound of Eternity
